AN ARCHAISTIC JADE PLAQUE WITH A DANCING FIGURE China, Qing dynasty (1644-1912) or earlier. Carved from mottled grey jade with dark speckling and pale calcified inclusions. The rounded rectangular plaque is carved in shallow relief with an archaistic dancing figure enclosed within a raised border. The reverse is plain and pierced with four pairs of attachment holes for suspension or mounting. The design is inspired by Tang or Liao dynasty decorative plaques. Dimensions: Height 8.2 cm
