A LARGE CLOISONNÉ ENAMEL ‘LOTUS POND’ DISH, LATE QING DYNASTY TO REPUBLIC PERIOD China, 1880-1920. Of square form with canted corners and shallow flared sides, raised on a short square foot, finely decorated in colorful enamels with a lotus pond, depicting large lotus blossoms and leaves, a fish swimming among reeds, dragonflies, and a bird in flight, all against a black ground. The rim is decorated with a turquoise-ground border enclosing stylized floral and geometric designs. The exterior sides and the base decorated with dense gilt-bronze wirework and floral motifs against a bright turquoise-ground. Dimensions: Length 34.2 cm
