AN INLAID SILVER BUFFALO AND BOY GROUP Himalayan region, c. 1920s. The two-part metal-alloy group finely worked as a boy seated astride a walking buffalo, the child wearing a short floral-decorated robe and high topknot, drawing a bow in his outstretched hand, with a quiver slung across his back. The buffalo modeled with lowered head, horns, fitted with a chain halter at the mouth and richly embellished with turquoise and glass in imitation of coral cabochons, the body further incised with cloud-scroll designs.
