A BRONZE TWO-PART CENSER OF A SCHOLAR ON A MULE, QING DYNASTY China, 1644-1912. Cast as a scholar seated on a mule, the bearded figure holds a ruyi scepter in one hand, wearing a loose robe tied at the waist and a hat. The mule has its head lowered and turned to one side, wearing a decorated saddle cloth. The backside of the scholar with an aperture for the incense to escape.
