AN IMPORTANT ‘TREASURE VASE BUMPA’ AGATE DZI BEAD Tibet, 19th century or earlier. Of small oval-shaped form, featuring two symbols of the treasure vase skillfully etched to the surface. The opaque agate of lustrous black color with striking white etched patterns. Central drilling allowing for suspension as a pendant. Dimensions: Length 1.5 cm The Treasure Vase Dzi bead, known in Tibetan tradition as Bumpa, is among the most auspicious of Himalayan talismanic beads, symbolizing abundance, prosperity, longevity, and spiritual fulfillment. Its imagery derives from the sacred Buddhist kalasha or treasure vase, a ritual vessel believed to contain the inexhaustible nectar of immortality and divine blessings. Beads bearing this motif were traditionally valued as symbols of inexhaustible wealth and good fortune, believed to ensure that the wearer’s health, wisdom, material prosperity, and spiritual merit would continually increase rather than diminish.
