A BOW-SHAPED ‘PHOENIX-EYE’ AGATE DZI BEAD WITH 18K GOLD MOUNTING Tibet, 19th century or earlier. Of elongated bow-shaped form, featuring a phoenix eye etched to its surface and flanked by bands. The opaque agate of a lustrous black color. The bead is fitted with 18K gold caps on both ends, of a later date. Central drilling allowing for suspension as a pendant. Dimensions: Length 4.5 cm The Phoenix Eye Dzi bead is a rare and highly auspicious talisman within Tibetan bead traditions, often referred to in Tibetan belief as the Eyes of the Buddha or Bodhisattva, symbolize wisdom, compassion, and spiritual insight. Closely linked to the symbolism of the phoenix, the bead also represents transformation and renewal: the ability to overcome hardship, abandon what is no longer needed, and emerge strengthened and spiritually renewed.
