A Chippendale Mahogany and Cherrywood Serpentine Claw-and-Ball Foot Desk-and-Bookcase New England, Circa 1770 Height 83 1/2 x width 42 x depth 22 inches. This lot is located in Chicago. Provenance Every lot in Sale 6571 - The Vault is being offered as-is and without further condition reports beyond what is already stated. In overall fair and stable condition. Retaining a fairly even finish and patina throughout. Scuffs, marks and scratches consistent with age and use. Age cracks to the sides of the case. Appears to retain the original drawer pulls and hinges. Appears to retain period glass. Patches visible to the slant lid and to areas of the cornice of the superstructure. Age cracks in the feet, but none that cause concern for structural integrity. The shelves in the superstructure do not stay well-supported as the proper right side of the case bows outwardly near the center of the board.
