New Cavendish Books, 1984 In the above book, Cuneo related his process of painting and the necessities for success- and respite: It is only physical involvement, this 'living the part', finding out what makes it tick, that can make a finished work ring true..However, there comes a time when a halt must be called. When escape from this total involvement becomes imperative. At such times, I drop everything, get out a paint-box and camp-stool, and go in search of the quietest landscape I can lay eyes upon. I paint trees, boat and river scenes. I get myself abroad- paint Arabs in Marrakesh, still-life, flowers, a portrait of my granddaughter- anything that spells relaxation and tranquillity. In Marrakesh, South Africa, France and as here Crete, Cuneo found this relaxation and tranquillity- feelings this picture strongly evokes.
