λY GERALD BENNEY (1930-2008)- A PAIR OF SILVER AND GREEN ENAMEL MOUNTED EMU EGGS LONDON 1990 The loose eggs set into egg bodies, silver rims, silver gilt interiors, pale green enamel decorated stems and polished bases 23cm high The eggs for this lot were laid at Fawley Hill, and then given to Benney who mounted them with silver and enamel. The emerald green enamel was chosen to complement the natural dark green of the emu eggs. A letter from Benney in 1990 referred to his design as emu-ey looking.
