Of multi-lobed, compressed globular form imitating a melon, the cover carved through thick layers of rich red lacquer to a green-diaper ground below, depicting large, realistically rendered lobed melon sections and stylized leaves intertwined with delicate blossoming flower heads and trailing tendrils. Sides of both the cover and the box are continuously carved with an intricate geometric wan-zi diaper ground pattern. The interior and base are finished in a smooth black lacquer coating.
