The box is potted in the distinctive form of a crescent moon, securely nested within a padded, cream-silk-lined presentation box covered in deep blue fabric. The flat top of the cover is painted in underglaze blue with a central lotus blossom surrounded by scrolling foliage and tendrils, bordered by a single line following the crescent contour. The glaze has a pale bluish-celadon tint and is suffused with a subtle network of faint crackle lines.
