拍品描述
A NEO-BABYLONIAN STONE CYLINDER SEAL CIRCA 900-700 B.C. A Neo-Babylonian stone cylinder seal, carved from warm yellow-toned stone and pierced vertically for suspension or stringing. The surface is divided into horizontal registers, each engraved with repeating animal and symbolic motifs, including rows of striding animals and stylised forms separated by narrow bands. The accompanying impression shows the full rolled design, revealing the seal’s orderly register composition and the rhythmic repetition of figures. The carving is bold and decorative, with the pale recessed areas contrasting against the golden-yellow body of the stone. Circa 900-700 B.C. Height: 5.5cm
