AN EGYPTIAN BRONZE FIGURE OF A PHARAOH DELIVERING A GIFT, PTOLEMAIC PERIOD, 304-30 B.C. Cast in bronze with a mottled reddish-brown and green patina, the figure is shown kneeling on a small rectangular base, the body rendered with compact proportions and simplified anatomical detail. The pharaoh’s head is smooth and rounded, the facial features softly defined. He extends both hands forward to support a flared, lotus-shaped offering vessel, its rim articulated with radiating petals. Areas of encrustation and surface accretion are visible throughout, particularly in the recesses of the vessel and along the lower garment.No detail of the reverse is provided in the images. Figures of this type embody the royal role as intermediary between the gods and humanity, depicting the king in the act of presenting ritual offerings within temple contexts.
