拍品描述

A VIKING GOLD RING Circa 9th–10th Century A.D. Hammered from high-karat gold, the ring is formed as a continuous circular band with a subtly raised central ridge. The outer surface is decorated with incised geometric motifs arranged in repeating triangular and linear patterns, creating a textured, faceted profile. At either side of the ridge the band thickens slightly, each swelling modelled as a stylised animal head with rounded snout and small recessed eye. The interior is plain and shows the soft undulations characteristic of hand-forged workmanship. Rings of this type were personal ornaments widely worn across Scandinavia during the Viking Age, often displaying geometric or zoomorphic detailing characteristic of contemporary metalworking traditions. Measurements: Internal diameter 2.2 cm; weight 6 g
