A CARNELIAN AMULET PENDANT IN THE FORM OF A FRONTAL RAM HEAD, SURMOUNTED BY A SOLAR DISC (KHUNM) LAT A carnelian amulet pendant carved in the form of a frontal ram head, the translucent orange-red stone polished to a smooth, lustrous surface. The head is surmounted by a rounded solar disc, while the sides are framed by deeply carved, ribbed horns which curve downward along the face. The warm tones of the carnelian range from amber-orange to deeper red, enhancing the object’s solar associations and giving the pendant a strong visual presence. The ram-headed form represents Amun-Ra, combining the ram symbolism of Amun with the solar power of Ra. In Egyptian belief, this imagery evoked divine strength, fertility, kingship, solar authority, and protective force. As an amulet pendant, the object would have served both as an ornament and as a protective emblem, carrying religious significance for the wearer. Late Period, circa 5th-3rd century B.C.
