拍品描述
ARCHAIC EASTERN GREEK BANDED AGATE STAMP SEAL CIRCA 6th–5th CENTURY B.C. Finely engraved stamp seal in translucent banded agate, depicting two confronted griffins rearing in heraldic symmetry, their forelegs raised and wings carefully detailed with fine linear incision. The creatures display elongated necks, stylized heads and elegantly curled tails, reflecting strong Near Eastern influence within the Greek Orientalizing tradition. The composition is well balanced and crisply executed, characteristic of early Greek glyptic workshops. The seal is longitudinally pierced for suspension and retains excellent surface preservation with natural inclusions and attractive tonal variation. Eastern Greek (Ionian workshop), with Near Eastern artistic influence. Diameter: 2.6cm Weight: 11g
