拍品描述

AN AMLASH POTTERY FEMALE FIGURE IRAN, CIRCA EARLY 1ST MILLENNIUM B.C. An Amlash pottery female figure from Iran, circa early 1st millennium B.C., modelled standing in highly stylised form with a long cylindrical neck, bird-like facial features, large circular eyes, and a prominent ridged headdress or coiffure. The arms are looped outward from the body and drawn inward at the abdomen, where the hands are clasped together. The figure has small applied breasts, a narrow waist, exaggerated hips, and columnar legs, reflecting the abstracted and fertility-associated forms characteristic of ancient Iranian terracotta figures. The surface is heavily weathered with reddish-buff and earthen tones, scattered dark accretions, and mineral encrustation throughout. Mounted on a modern black display base. Height: 27 cm.
