拍品描述

AN EGYPTIAN ALABASTER ALABASTRON Predynastic–Early Dynastic Period, Naqada III–1st Dynasty, Circa 3200–2750 B.C. Carved from banded Egyptian alabaster with warm amber, cream, and honey-toned veining, the vessel is formed with a gently swelling ovoid body rising to a slightly concave neck and a subtly everted rim. The translucent stone shows natural stratification throughout, with areas of surface accretion and minor pitting consistent with burial. The interior is smoothly hollowed, the rim carefully dressed, and the base rounded to a narrow point. Alabastra of this type were used for storing oils, unguents, and other valuable liquids, their distinctive stone chosen for durability and visual appeal in both domestic and funerary settings. Measurements: Height 22 cm
