拍品描述

AN EGYPTIAN CARNELIAN “JAR” AMULET New Kingdom, Dynasty XIX–XX, 1307–1070 B.C. Carved from mottled red-orange carnelian, the amulet is shaped as a slender jar with a gently tapering body and a small rimmed neck. The shoulders are smoothly rounded, and the surface retains a soft polish, with areas of darker accretion visible in the recessed contours. A perforation at the top allows it to be suspended as a pendant. Amulets in the form of vessels were worn for protection and symbolic nourishment, invoking the funerary provisions and offerings essential for well-being in the afterlife. Measurements: Height 2.8 cm
