拍品描述

AN EGYPTIAN CARNELIAN TYET AMULET New Kingdom, Dynasty XIX–XX, 1307–1070 B.C. Carved from a translucent reddish carnelian, the amulet is shaped as the tyet, with a rounded loop above and flaring cross-arms tapering into a straight lower section. The surfaces are smoothly finished, showing gentle modelling around the upper loop and arms, with minor surface mottling visible in the stone. The tyet, commonly known as the ‘knot of Isis,’ functioned as a protective emblem associated with the goddess and was placed among the wrappings of the deceased to ensure divine safeguarding in the afterlife. Measurements: Height 2.8 cm
