AN EGYPTIAN CARNELIAN TYET AMULET New Kingdom, Dynasty XIX–XX, 1307–1070 B.C. Carved from translucent red carnelian with subtle orange and brown inclusions, this amulet takes the form of the tyet, the so-called “knot of Isis.” The front shows two flared, downward-curving lappets defined by closely incised parallel grooves, converging along a raised central ridge. The top is gently arched and pierced for suspension. The reverse is plain, displaying the smooth, polished surface of the stone and its natural colour variation. The tyet symbol was associated with the goddess Isis and was placed among the wrappings of the deceased to ensure her protection and regenerative power. Measurements: Height 2.8 cm
