拍品描述
Attributed to Jean Prouve (1901-1984), red-painted steel Potence-form wall lamp with cantilevered arm terminating in a bayonet-form European bulb socket. Executed in the functional industrial style for which Prouvé became renowned, the design emphasizes structural clarity and economy of form. Retains European plug, red painted steel. Dimensions: 48 inches L x 10 H at bracket. Catalog Note: Jean Prouvé's celebrated Potence lighting designs rank among the most recognizable icons of twentieth-century French modernism. Characterized by projecting cantilevered arms and a rigorous engineering aesthetic, these fixtures embody Prouve's belief that form should arise directly from function and structure. Related Potence models are published in Peter Sulzer's Jean Prouve: Complete Works and in Galerie Patrick Seguin's scholarly publications devoted to the designer's work.
