Following the mountains, rivers, and landscapes referenced in the ancient poems, the artist employs a restrained black-and-white photographic language to transform physical terrain into a spiritual landscape charged with historical memory. Rejecting the lyricism traditionally associated with landscape photography, he adopts near-neutral tonalities and a distanced perspective that dissolve the specificity of place, allowing ravines, ridges, and vast expanses of land to emerge as metaphors for time and civilization. The image contains no explicit narrative, yet within its boundless and desolate terrain resonates the distant echo of the Book of Songs. Assuming the role of a researcher and cultural investigator, Ta Ke constructs a dialogue across centuries, enabling ancient poetic sensibilities to find renewed expression through contemporary photography.
