Built through layers of nearly vertical, heavily loaded brushstrokes, the composition evokes a sense of carving and excavation, as if the mountain has been hewn from the canvas itself. Dominated by a vivid red palette, the work radiates against a backdrop of deep purples and dark blacks, creating the impression of a glowing cliff face or burning rock formation. Scattered accents of blue, turquoise, and orange punctuate the surface, suggesting both the texture of stone and the flicker of light, while disrupting any sense of chromatic uniformity. Rejecting the brushwork conventions and spatial voids of traditional Chinese landscape painting, Yin instead embraces the material possibilities of oil paint—its thickness, flow, and abrasion—allowing the physical substance of paint itself to participate in the construction of the mountain’s presence.
