CHINESE EXPORT PORCELAIN COVERED URN Late 18th Century Bulbous body with orange pistol grip handles and a marbleized square foot. Both sides with burnt orange and gilt landscape medallions and molded bellflower swags against a white ground scattered with flower blossoms. Height 15.25". The Estate of Dr. William E. Strole, Jr. of Boston. Given the intermarriages and social connections between the Lowell, Quincy and Shaw families of Boston's "Brahmin" upper class, it can be suggested this urn was also brought back by Shaw at the same time and given as a gift to a Lowell family member, where it descended through generations to Guy Lowell.
