Interesting Blue and White Planter, Jiajing Mark

Jiajing (Ming) six character mark to the rim of the planter, though this example may be 19th century. A blue underglaze decorated planter with dragons to all four exterior panels, archaic scrollwork to the edges and rim, and four beast mask tapering feet. The feel are unusual, as the areas around them to the underside were glazed (perhaps they were separately applied), and therefore they retain a white porcelain appearance, whereas the rest of the underside has turned a darker brown with age. The interior of the censer or planter is a turquoise tone. Ht. 6.75", lg. 8.5", dp. 5.75".
