Terracotta camel-shaped rhyton

Terracotta, possibly Near Eastern, c. 1st millennium BC. A ritual libation vessel (rhyton), sculpted in the form of a camel with elongated neck and stylised facial features. Around the body are six rounded chambers, each with an open spout used for pouring. Handcrafted from reddish earthenware with surface encrustation and burial patina. Such vessels were used in ceremonial contexts to pour offerings during religious rituals.
