American School (20th Century) New England Autumn Landscape depicting a rural valley with houses and farms nestled among tree-lined hills. Oil on board, in large carved frame Signed illegibly lower right, possibly Herbert 34" x 48" board, 49" x 63" frame Verso with a modernist figural painting in the manner of Milton Avery (American 1885-1965) depicting a stylized standing figure rendered in flat fields of red, orange, green, and black, set within a geometric patterned interior scene.
