A GILT-LAQUERED BRONZE FIGURE OF GUANYIN China, 17th cent. H. 19,4 cm Seated in vajrasana on a plinth with the principle hands in anjalimudra while both upper ones supporting sun and originally the moon emblems, wearing dhoti fastened around the waist with a ribbon knotted to the front, scarf draped around the shoulders, bejewelled, the triple-faced head displaying each a serene expression with downcast eyes below arched eyebrow, third eye at the forehead, the hair combed in a chignon and secured with a tiara, later sealed. H. 19,4 cm Sitzend in Vajrasana auf einem Sockel mit den Haupthänden in Anjalimudra, während die beiden oberen Hände das Sonnen- und ursprünglich das Mondemblem tragen, in Dhoti, der um die Taille mit einem vorne geknoteten Band befestigt ist, Schal um die Schultern drapiert, mit Schmuck verziert, der dreigesichtige Kopf zeigt jeweils einen heiteren Ausdruck mit niedergeschlagenen Augen unter gewölbter Augenbraue, drittes Auge an der Stirn, das Haar zu einem Dutt gekämmt und mit einem Diadem gesichert, später versiegelt.
