A THANGKA DEPICTING THE WHEEL OF LIFE, BHAVACHAKRA Tibet,. 19th/ 20th cent. 87 x 65 cm / 164 x 126 cm The Lord of Death, Yama, is holding the Wheel of Life, the centre showing a cock, pig and snake, surrounded by a band consisting of figures surrounded by six sections, each showing a scene of the hell and present worlds, encompassed by the ultimate ring with twelve scenes of the links of dependent origination or the schema that the Buddha offered to understand the biological process of life and death, in brocade mounting. Jh. 87 x 65 cm / 164 x 126 cm Der Herr des Todes, Yama, hält das Lebensrad, in dessen Zentrum ein Hahn, ein Schwein und eine Schlange zu sehen sind, umgeben von einem Band, das aus Figuren besteht, die von sechs Abschnitten umgeben sind, von denen jeder eine Szene aus der Hölle und der gegenwärtigen Welt zeigt, umgeben von dem letzten Ring mit zwölf Szenen der Glieder des abhängigen Entstehens oder des Schemas, das der Buddha zum Verständnis des biologischen Prozesses von Leben und Tod anbot, in Brokatmontierung.
