A THANGKA DEPICTING BUDDHA AMITABHA Tibet, 18th/ 19th cent. 57 x 39 cm (117,5 x 66 cm) The centre of the painting is occupied by Buddha Amitabha seated in vajrasana on a lotus base on a throne decorated to its front with a pair of peacocks, placed in the fenced pavilion of the Western Paradise, his hands resting on his lap supporting the alms-bowl, wearing a monastic garment, his face displaying a serene expression, head and body aureoles behind, flanked by the white standing Padmapani and the blue Maitreya, the latter holding the stem of a lotus flowering along his right arm supporting the kamandalu, the upper register with Buddha Shakyamuni and Tsongkhapa, the lower part with six seated bodhisattvas ordered around a pond with lotus flowers and a couple of worshipping monks and the entrance of the fence with Buddha Shakyamuni accompanied by two monks, in brocade mounting. Jahrhundert 57 x 39 cm (117,5 x 66 cm) Das Zentrum des Gemäldes wird von Buddha Amitabha eingenommen, der in Vajrasana auf einem Lotussockel auf einem Thron sitzt, der an der Vorderseite mit einem Paar Pfauen geschmückt ist. Er befindet sich im umzäunten Pavillon des Westlichen Paradieses, seine Hände ruhen auf seinem Schoß und stützen die Almosenschale, er trägt ein klösterliches Gewand, sein Gesicht zeigt einen heiteren Ausdruck, Kopf und Körper sind mit Aureolen geschmückt, flankiert von der weißen stehenden Padmapani und dem blauen Maitreya, Letzterer hält den Stiel einer Lotosblüte am rechten Arm und stützt das Kamandalu, das obere Register mit Buddha Shakyamuni und Tsongkhapa, der untere Teil mit sechs sitzenden Bodhisattvas, die um einen Teich mit Lotosblüten und einem Paar verehrender Mönche angeordnet sind, und der Eingang der Umzäunung mit Buddha Shakyamuni in Begleitung von zwei Mönchen, in Brokatmontur.
