A THANGKA DEPICTING SHRICHAKRASAMVARA Tibet, 19th cent. 60 x 41,2 cm The centre of the painting is occupied by Shrichakrasamvara embracing his consort standing in alidhasana on a pair of divinities reclining on the lotus base, his twelve arms radiating around him, the hands showing the prescribed attributes with the central pair holding the vajra and ghanta, wearing tiger skin, bejewelled, his multiple faced head showing each a ferocious expression, flaming aureole behind them, the upper section with the central placed Padmasambhava flanked by his consorts, Sarvabuddhadakini drinking from a blood-filled kapala and Vajravarahi, the lower section with the green Vajrasattva flanked by two female deities and all placed in a mountainous landscape, in brocade mounting.
