A THANGKA DEPICTING A FEMALE DEITY Tibet, 19th cent. 68,5 x 41,5 cm, R. The centre of the painting is showing a brown coloured female deity seated in lalitasana on a lotus base with her right foot supported by a smaller lotus, her right hand in abhayamudra while the left is holding a phurbu and the stem of a lotus flowering along her left arm, wearing sari, scarf draped around her shoulders, another one across her chest, bejewelled, her face displaying a ferocious expression, open mouth showing fangs and a double row of teeth, her hair combed in a chignon secured with an elaborate crown, double halo behind, the upper register with a Tara representation in each corner holding different attributes and the lower section with a pair of horse riders passing through a mountainous landscape with lake and river, in brocade mounting, framed and glazed. Das Zentrum des Gemäldes zeigt eine braun gefärbte weibliche Gottheit, die in lalitasana auf einer Lotusbasis sitzt, wobei ihr rechter Fuß von einem kleineren Lotus gestützt wird, ihre rechte Hand ist in abhayamudra, während die linke ein phurbu hält und der Stiel einer Lotusblüte entlang ihres linken Arms blüht, sie trägt einen Sari, ein Tuch ist um ihre Schultern drapiert, ein weiteres über ihrer Brust, sie ist mit Juwelen geschmückt, ihr Gesicht zeigt einen grimmigen Ausdruck, Das obere Register mit einer Tara-Darstellung in jeder Ecke, die verschiedene Attribute hält, und der untere Teil mit einem Reiterpaar, das durch eine bergige Landschaft mit See und Fluss reitet, in Brokatmontierung, unter Glas gerahmt.
