A bronze Okimono of a turtle with young on a wooden stand Japan, marked, Meiji period L. 22,5 cm; Gewicht: 2,285 kg Worked in three parts. At the bottom in a square reserve with a four-character seal mark. From an old Süd German private collection, in the family since the early 20th century Nogami Tatsuoki was famous for his studies of tortoises, and was patronized by the Imperial Household Agency. He is mentioned in the 1910 article on Japanese metalworking, Japanese Art and Artists of Today (reprinted in Barry Davies’ exhibition catalogue, Japanese Metalwork of the Meiji Period, page 104). - Minor traces of age Okimono einer Schildkröte mit Jungen aus Bronze auf einem Holzstand Japan, gemarkt Nogami Ryūki, Meiji-Periode L. 22,5 cm; Gewicht: 2,285 kg In drei Teilen gearbeitet. Am Boden in einer quadratischen Reserve mit Vierzeichen-Siegelmarke. Aus einer alten süddeutschen Privatsammlung, seit dem frühen 20. Jh. im Familienbesitz Nogami Tatsuoki war berühmt für seine Studien über Schildkröten und wurde vom Kaiserlichen Hofamt gefördert.
