A fine bronze vase Japan, Meiji period H.44,5 cm Vase on a recessed circular foot. The domed cover is surmounted by an eagle clutching a monkey in its talons. Side-mounted handles in the form of stylised phoenixes. On the front and reverse, a medallion depicting a samurai engaged in combat with a baku, respectively geese at a riverbank. Bronze, with details inlaid with gold and silver. From a South German private collection - Minor wear Deckelvase aus Buntmetall Japan, Meiji - Periode H.44,5 cm Deckelvase auf eingezogenem Rundfuß. Der gewölbte Deckel von einem Adler bekrönt, der einen Affen in seinen Klauen hält. Seitlich angesetzte Henkel in Form von stilisierten Phönixen. Auf der Vorder- und Rückseite ein Medaillon mit Darstellung eines Samurai im Kampf mit einem Baku bzw. Gänse an einem Ufer. Bronze, Details mit Gold und Silber eingelegt.
