A cylindrical ivory brush pot with engraved decoration of a landscape and inscription China, ca. 18th c. H. 12,1 cm, D. 8,6 cm Depicted is a river landscape with rocks, a pagoda, travelers, and a fisherman in a boat. The reverse side with an incised inscription of a poem describing an estate situated by a spring in the morning light. Text translation by Prof. A. Eckardt, dated July 1, 1960: "The dwelling lies beside a clear spring; the place, too, partakes of the clear morning (bright)-a counterpart to the rainy morning (dark). Crafted during the first half of summer (two seals)." Weight: 419 g. Zylindrischer Elfenbein-Pinselbecher mit Gravurdekor einer Landschaft und Inschrift China, ca. 18. Jh. H. 12,1 cm, D. 8,6 cm Dargestellt ist eine Flusslandschaft mit Felsen, einer Pagode, Reisenden und Fischer im Boot. Die Rückseite trägt einen eingeschnittenen Schriftzug eines Gedichtes über ein Anwesen an einer Quelle im Morgenlicht. Textübersetzung nach Prof. A. Eckardt vom 1. Juli 1960: "Die (Menschen-)Wohnung liegt an klasen Quelle, der Ort auch hat Teil am klaren Morgen (hell) entspricht dem Regen-Morgen (dunkel). Verfertigt in der ersten Sommerhälfte (zwei Siegel)".
