A fiine boxwood netsuke of a toad Japan, signed Masanao, Ise, 19th cent. L. 4,8 cm Sitting and supported on the forelegs, the head turned slightly to the left, the skin depicted with bumps and notches. The elliptical pupils made of black horn. Signed Masanao on the bottom. North German private collection, acquired on 22/02/2013 at Galerie Flachsmann (invoice available), with indication ex Sotheby's Amsterdam December 1987 (not verified) - Minim. traces of age Feines Buchsbaum-Netsuke einer Kröte Japan, signiert Masanao, Ise, 19.Jh. L. 4,8 cm Sitzend und auf den Vorderbeinen abgestützt, den Kopf leicht nach links gewandt, die Haut mit Unebenheiten und Kerben dargestellt. Die elliptischen Pupillen aus schwarzem Horn. Signiert: Masanao am Boden.
