A carved and partly lacquered wood statue of Daruma Japan, Meiji period H. 62 cm Standing figure of Daruma (Bodhidharma) wearing a voluminous robe. The face is carved with pronounced eyebrows, wide-open eyes, and a closed mouth. The compact composition is defined by deeply carved folds of drapery. From an old South German private collection - Minor wear Skulptur des Daruma aus Holz mit rötlicher Lackfassung Japan, Meiji - Periode H. 62 cm Stehende Darstellung des Daruma (Bodhidharma) in weit fallendem Gewand, dass auch seinen Kopf bedeckt.
