Two hanging scrolls with a congratulations to a member of the imperial family China, dated 1838 219 x 46,5 / 219 x 92,5 cm Calligraphy in gold pigment on blue-tinted paper. The congratulatory letter is presumably addressed to a female member of the imperial family. The text recounts the biographies of three exemplary women. Following this, thirty-six officials offer their congratulations; they are listed in six rows of six names each and greet the recipient ‘with bowed heads and raised hands’. Finally, the date is given: “18th year of the Daoguang era” (1838).
