A BRONZE FIGURE OF POSSIBLY ERLANG SHEN, A DEITY ASSOCIATED WITH FLOOD CONTROL China, late Ming dynasty H. 31 cm Seated in European fashion with both feet firmly placed on the base of a throne cast with an animal to the front, his right hand raised originally holding an attribute while the left is placed on his upper left leg, wearing armour, tunic, skirt, all secured with a ribbon fastened around his waist, boots, his face displaying a severe expression with slit eyes below arched eyebrows that run into the nose-bridge and his head topped with the specific hat, traces of gilt- and red-lacquer.
