A Samurai armor 'yoroi' Japan, 20th c. H. 155 cm incl. Kiste/box Comprising iron helmet, fitted with a gilded wooden maidate in the shape of a shishi (lion) with raised datemono; the neck is protected by a neck guard. The iron face mask, ‘Mempo’, takes the form of an old, angry man with flared nostrils, an open mouth and a moustache. The body armor consists of iron plates, featuring a butterfly crest on the chest (kocho/ikeda). The lower half of the haidate is covered with polychrome decorative lacing, whilst the upper halfhalf with an embroidered silk decoration featuring flowers, along with gilded shin guards (suneate) and a pair of shoes, kegutsu, covered in fur. Kiste/box Bestehend aus einem Eisenhelm, versehen mit einem vergoldeten Maidate aus Holz in Form eines Shishi (Löwen) mit erhabenen Datemono; der Hals wird durch einen Halsschutz geschützt. Die Gesichtsmaske aus Eisen, „Mempo“, hat die Gestalt eines alten, zornigen Mannes mit geweiteten Nasenflügeln, offenem Mund und Schnurrbart. Die Körperrüstung besteht aus Eisenplatten, dô, mit einem Schmetterlingswappen auf der Brust (kocho/ikeda). Das Haidate ist in der unteren Hälfte mit polychromer Zierbandschnürung überzogen und in der oberen Hälfte mit einer bestickten Seidenverzierung aus Blüten verziert, dazu vergoldete Schienbeinschoner (Suneate) sowie ein Paar Schuhe, kegutsu, die mit Fell überzogen sind.
