A pair of silk velvet chair runners featuring dragons and lions for a wedding China, 19th c. 148 x 49 cm Red silk velvet with woven gold patterns (strips of paper with gold leaf). Lining: cotton (beige-brown), plain weave.The chair runners are each divided into four sections corresponding to the positioning on the armchair. The seat features an endless knot, surrounded by four additional treasures with fluttering ribbons. On the front of the backrest, a dragon in clouds; on the back, the Shuangxi symbol for double happiness-characteristic of weddings-surrounded by five bats. The panel hanging down from the seat featuring a male shizi lion with brocade ball and clouds. The surrounding border is decorated with floral tendrils. From an old South German private collection, assembled prior to 1990 - Visible traces of age and use, partially worn Paar Stuhlbehänge aus Seidensamt mit Drachen und Löwen für eine Hochzeit China, 19. Jh. 148 x 49 cm Roter Seidensamt mit eingewebten Goldmustern (Papierstreifen mit Blattgold). Futterstoff: Baumwolle (Beigebraun), Leinwandbindung. Die Stuhlbehänge sind in vier Bereiche aufgeteilt, die den Partien auf dem Lehnstuhl entsprechen. Auf dem Sitz jeweils ein endloser Knoten, umgeben von vier weiteren Schätzen mit flatternden Bändern. Auf der Vorderseite der Rückenlehne ein Drache in Wolken, auf der Rückseite das Shuangxi-Zeichen für doppeltes Glück, charakteristisch für Hochzeiten, umgeben von fünf Fledermäusen. Vom Sitz herab hängt ein Stück mit einem männlichen shisi-Löwe mit Brokatball und Wolken. Die umlaufende Bordüre mit Blütenranken.
