A MONGOLIAN KILIM RUG OR WALL HANGING c.1920 or earlier, Woven in naturally dyed and undyed wool thread depicting five phoenixes/fenghuang or birds enclosed within a Chinese style fretted/knotted panel, typically bordered by polychrome stripes, 207cm high 158cm width Though most likely Mongolian, some textiles/fabrics of this type were also produced in Gansu, Northwest China
