Work: 38,5 x 24,5 cm Frame: 56,5 x 42 cm The back with a reference to most probably Pieter Pourbus (1523-1584). However, it is more than likely that this is a work by a Fleming who was active at the French court as a miniaturist in the period 1600-1620. As a consequence, the name Pourbus possibly refers to Frans II Pourbus (1569-1622), which would fit in nicely with the history of the work. The work may have been made based on the painting 'Henri IV, roi de France (1553-1610) en costume noir' by Frans Pourbus le Jeune, nowadays part of the Louvre collection ( href="https://art.rmngp.fr/fr/library/artworks/frans-pourbus-le-jeune_henri-iv-roi-de-france-1553-1610-en-costume-noir_huile-sur-bois" target="_blank">link).
