'Les Misérables' is a French epic and famous historical novel by Victor Hugo,first published on 31 March 1862,about Jean Valjean, a former convict who is released after 19 years for stealing a loaf of bread. He seeks a better life but is pursued for life by the obsessed Inspector Javert. Valjean takes on the care of the girl Cosette and becomes involved in the Paris uprising of 1832.
