Framed Japanese painting displaying a man adorned in a vibrant green robe releasing a bird into the wild from a basket. Beside the standing man is a table where a red robed figure is seated; in the foreground is a plank of wood tied with a red sash. Possibly depicting the tale of Shita-kiri Suzume. With a small label verso presumably inscribed, "Japanese Painting". From a Branford, CT estate. Dimensions: frame measures approx. 55.5" h x 24.5" w, painting measures approx. 48" h x 20" w.
