A magnificent pale celadon jade pendant intricately carved in the form of a mythical dragon. The elegant openwork composition, flowing scroll motifs, and finely detailed spiral patterns exemplify the sophisticated artistry of the Western Han dynasty. Revered as a symbol of power, protection, and immortality, the dragon reflects the spiritual and ceremonial significance of jade in ancient China. Height 16 cm. PROVENANCE From a private Canadian collection. Formerly from Mr. Huang Zhi-Ming, a Taiwanese private collector. Mr. Huang acquired the jade pieces in Hong Kong. Some from Mr. Lai Loy (1926 - 2012), a jade dealer on Hollywood Road well known for handling and supplying archaic jade pieces to collectors, museums and other dealers and some some from private collectors in Hong Kong.
