An exceptional turquoise pendant carved in the form of a mythical bird grasping a serpent, symbolizing power, protection, and transformation. The openwork design is richly detailed with flowing scrolls and stylized motifs, showcasing the artistic sophistication of the Eastern Zhou period. The vibrant turquoise surface is enhanced by natural mineral inclusions and age-related patina. Length 6.3 cm. Weight 150 gr. PROVENANCE From a private Canadian collection. Formerly from Mr. Huang Zhi-Ming, a Taiwanese private collector. Mr. Huang acquired the jade pieces in Hong Kong. Some from Mr. Lai Loy (1926 - 2012), a jade dealer on Hollywood Road well known for handling and supplying archaic jade pieces to collectors, museums and other dealers and some some from private collectors in Hong Kong.
