拍品描述

A finely carved green jade parrot from the Shang dynasty, rendered in a highly stylized form with elegant geometric contours and bold abstract motifs. The elongated silhouette and symbolic design reflect the artistic sophistication and spiritual symbolism of early Chinese jade craftsmanship. The stone exhibits a soft translucent tone with a smooth, lustrous surface developed over centuries. Height 17.5 cm. PROVENANCE From a private Canadian collection. Formerly from Mr. Huang Zhi-Ming, a Taiwanese private collector. Mr. Huang acquired the jade pieces in Hong Kong. Some from Mr. Lai Loy (1926 - 2012), a jade dealer on Hollywood Road well known for handling and supplying archaic jade pieces to collectors, museums and other dealers and some some from private collectors in Hong Kong.
