A rare white jade plaque masterfully carved in the form of a tiger with an elegant arched body and finely curled tail. The stylized silhouette reflects the powerful symbolism of the tiger in early Chinese culture, representing strength, protection, and spiritual authority. Its minimalist yet expressive design exemplifies the sophistication of Neolithic jade craftsmanship. Length 8.8 cm. PROVENANCE From a private Canadian collection. Formerly from Mr. Huang Zhi-Ming, a Taiwanese private collector. Mr. Huang acquired the jade pieces in Hong Kong. Some from Mr. Lai Loy (1926 - 2012), a jade dealer on Hollywood Road well known for handling and supplying archaic jade pieces to collectors, museums and other dealers and some some from private collectors in Hong Kong.
